Rent the Winklevoss Twins’ L.A. Party Pad for $150,000 Per Month

When it comes to Facebook, finishing second best wasn’t so bad after all.

Bitcoin investors, Facebook-progenitors and former Olympic rowers Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss are renting their minimalist Los Angeles mansion for a whopping $150,000 per month—and the social networking possibilities there are limitless. The sleek home is located in the Bird Streets area, tucked on a steep slope high above the Sunset Strip.

Straight out of a movie set, the massive modern five-bedroom, nine-bathroom estate is ideal for entertaining on a grand scale. You don’t rent this place merely to crash for the night. In fact, we’re not sure if any sleeping goes on in this house—unless it’s out of lust. The estate is a pure showstopper.

With easy open-air access via huge sliding glass doors, an L-shaped negative-edge swimming pool, terraces, a tanning-shelf, a lounge with wet bar, media room and jaw-dropping panoramic “jetliner views” of L.A., this home is primed for partying all the time.

The home features polished slab limestone floors throughout the sprawling interconnected spaces, which includes five en-suite bedrooms, an office/library with custom-crafted built-in storage, and a combination kitchen/dining/living area so large it looks abandoned when not used. Clearly this area isn’t the home’s most important space in which to hang out. But it’s nice, and there when necessary.

The 8,000-square-foot contemporary home is immaculately manicured, boasting extensive floor-to-ceiling transparent glass and spaces so wide open, twins could host an “Unthink” rally (antisocial networking group) or an “I Hate Mark Zuckerberg” party for nearly everyone in L.A. not on Facebook.

The Winklevosses (or Winklevi, as tandemly teased in the Oscar-winning The Social Network film) could probably practice rowing in the pool. The space could host a holiday party for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Angels, Lakers, Clippers, and Kings, and still have room leftover. The eventual renter could comfortably ride a bike through the home—and by bike we mean a Harley Davidson. It’s that big and open. The house should be converted into L.A.’s coolest nightclub.

Not exactly warm and cozy (sans the pool and fancy modern fireplaces), the home almost looks staged by two Alpha male perfectionists—down to the James Bond 007 scenes on the massive TV wall and underground garage for six luxury cars or even more crew racing shells.

The Winklevoss Facebook settlement with Mark Zuckerberg elevated the twins to the top 1%.
The venture capitalist identical twin brothers who claimed their Harvard classmate Zuckerberg stole their idea for Facebook (and eventually settled for $65 million), bought the home in 2012 for $18 million (not bad for pseudo-inventors). Even though Zuckerberg’s determination sealed their legacy, the twins and Zuckerberg aren’t likely Facebook friends.

We can only wonder where and how the Winklevoss twins upgraded after this home. But we’re sure the trailer of the next James Bond film is paused on their new media room(s).

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s $20 Million Mansion

Newlywed celebrities Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have allegedly dropped $20 million on a sprawling mega-watt mansion in California.

Kardashian, star of the popular reality TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, has been quoted saying she is “so ready” to move into her new digs with Grammy Award-winning hubby and their 15-month-old daughter North West. The power couple, commonly known as ‘Kimye,’ reportedly closed on the house in August. The French Country farmhouse mansion is known as “the jewel of Hidden Hills,” located in a more secluded suburban area that is – no pun intended – “north-west” of the bustling Los Angeles area. Needless to say, the property is loaded with every perk a celebrity couple of their magnitude could ask for.

The nearly 16,000-square-foot, eight bedroom estate sits on three-and-a-half acres within a gated community, and is equipped with not one, but two vineyards. (Perhaps Kimye-brand wine is in the works?) It appears to be no secret the couple is a fan of white. Floor-to-ceiling windows, vaulted ceilings, ‘art gallery walkways’ (to display West’s vast collection) and, of course, white-washed walls give the home an overall breezy, airy feel.

Guests of the Kardashian-West home will be greeted and whisked into a grand foyer with a stunning wrought-iron spiral staircase. The elegant formal dining room features a marvelous crystal chandelier, and is connected to (along with the family room) a fully-equipped, all-white chef’s kitchen, with solid wood beams on the vaulted ceiling. The 1,050-square-foot outdoor entertainment pavilion, complete with a sports court area and pool house, features a large swimming pool and Jacuzzi, both lined with fountain streams to give it a touch of romance. There is also a second, smaller swimming pool with a slide for baby North.

It would simply not be a house fit for Kimye unless it was equipped with “his and hers” separate walk-in closets, as seen below. Additional features include eight fireplaces, a wet bar, office, home theater, library, and a swanky games room with suede walls.

Meanwhile, Kimye just recently put their Bel Air home on the market, as renovations are ongoing. They are about halfway completed. The power couple decided to flip the home after purchasing it in 2013 for $9 million. Reports have stated they were seeking to acquire more land and privacy than their Bel Air home could provide. The nearly 9,000-square-foot abode — which was gutted and still in the process of being completely re-done — has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms and currently listed at $11 million.

Vince Vaughn Picks Up Kate Bosworth’s Canyon Digs for $2.375 Million

By: Kristin Tablang

Comical actor Vince Vaughn has reportedly dropped $2.375 million for fellow film star Kate Bosworth‘s Los Angeles estate. The 2,890-square-foot residence was purchased by the Blue Crush blonde back in 2005 for $2.1 million and listed by the beauty for just shy of $2.5 million this past spring.

Touting three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, the lovely home boasts a gleaming white and airy interior, accented by wooden furnishings and organic textures, which lend to its understated elegance.

Poised on half an acre, the gated A-list property features an upstairs master suite complete with a sitting area; two walk-in closets; a spa-like bath with double Carrara marble vanities; and a jetted tub. Venture through French doors into the backyard and you’ll find a two-lane lap pool and an outdoor lounge—not to mention extraordinary canyon views.

Heidi Klum Unloads Her Lush Los Angeles Residence for $24 Million

By: Kristin Tablang

The former supermodel has successfully sold her “little piece of heaven” in Los Angeles $24 million—a million less than its original asking. Poised in the prestigious neighborhood of Brentwood, right off Mandeville Canyon, the 12,300-square-foot Tuscan-style villa—comprised of eight bedrooms and 10 baths—sits on 8.52 lush acres.

The opulent estate touts a 24-hour guard gated entryway, which opens to a central motor court showcasing a lighted fountain, while its double-height foyer leads to the formal living room and dining room, which connect to a library embellished with ebonized wood. Spectacular French doors pave the way to the home’s numerous terraces and patios.

Built in 1999, the sweet single-family also boasts an eat-in chef’s kitchen; a butler’s pantry; a family room; a home office; a media room; and a temperature-controlled wine cellar. Its romantic, manicured grounds—which are dotted with fountains—also house an infinity-edge pool and spa; a koi pond; and an exquisite rose garden. The “Project Runway” host first purchased the romantic abode—located at 12759 Chalon Road—as a foreclosure for $14.2 million back in 2010 with her now ex-husband, Seal.

Own “Dexter” Star Michael C. Hall’s ‘Killer’ Estate for $4.5 Million

By: Kristin Tablang

Situated along Nottingham Avenue in Los Angeles, “Dexter” star Michael C. Hall’s homey Spanish Colonial is tucked behind a picturesque entry garden. Currently asking $4.5 million, the actor’s 5,618-square-foot gated estate has three chief components: a main house, guest quarters, and a sprawling space previously used to store the bodies of all his victims… (kidding, kidding—it’s just a three-car garage). The lush garden and swimming pool out back also provide a wholesome touch to the property’s open grounds.

A step into the six-bedroom, six-bath property’s simplistic main house brings you into an elegant foyer that opens on either side to the home’s formal living room and informal den. Each room exudes a unique flavor, as light and space flow seamlessly between them. Arched windows, wood-beamed ceilings, and low-pitched tile roofing are effortlessly balanced by contemporary amenities such as the residence’s cutting-edge kitchen, which features clean lines and evocative lighting. Guaranteed not to have any skeletons in its closets—literally and figuratively speaking—this beautifully crafted home exemplifies the heart of Los Feliz architecture.
